In an effort to improve the health and quality of life for all Hoosiers, Rethink Tobacco Indiana (RTI) seeks to increase the number of Indiana health professionals who are trained to provide evidence-based tobacco treatment interventions.

Indiana University (IU) Health Community Benefit aims to support community health improvements for Hoosiers. In doing so, they have generously provided a grant to Rethink Tobacco Indiana to allocate financial aid assistance to health care and community professionals who have demonstrated an interest in tobacco dependence treatment and can fulfill the application requirements.

Financial Aid Assistance Overview

  • Financial aid assistance of $600 will be offered to selected recipients to help with the cost of training registration
  • Recipient cannot be employed with Indiana University Health
  • Recipients must successfully pass the UMass TTS exam with a score of 75% or greater
  • Priority will be given to applicants affiliated with non-for-profit organizations and/or Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)
  • Recipient is encouraged to participate in the TTS Community of Practice bi-monthly calls following completion of the training

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for financial assistance, applicants must:

  1. Work directly with clients/patients or work out in a community setting where they have contact with tobacco users

  2. Be able to complete the TTS Part 1 online prerequisite, have the availability to attend all three training days, and achieve a score of 75% or greater on the TTS exam;

  3. Apply tobacco dependence treatment into your own work to help reduce the prevalence of tobacco use in Indiana; and

  4. Submit a 300-word or less personal statement describing your interest in tobacco dependence treatment and how you intend to utilize the training as it applies to your current role. (Please use microsoft word format to upload)

How to Apply

The financial aid assistance application and 300-word personal statement must be submitted online. Applications must be received by Friday, October 15th by 6pm ET. Selected recipients will be notified by October 22nd.
